Just a week to go of this transfer window madness. Today is a bumper day with Arsenal linked to Wayne Rooney, Julio Cesar, Mezut Ozil, Yohan Cabaye, Tim Krul, Angel Di Maria, Vicente Guaita and Juan Mata. We need them all I say or our season is so over and I will explode or something, although I may have been brainwashed.
I think that I even read somewhere that Nicklas Bendtner is going to Crystal Palace, but I might have imagined that bit in a Bank Holiday morning haze. Imagine that, a Chamakh/Bendtner strike force. That should secure Ian Holloway’s job.
Meanwhile Jose Mourinho is seriously messing with David Moyes’ head. Which is kind of fun to watch. Apparently Moyes is to blame for Rooney wanting to leave and Moyes shouldn’t hold the poor boy back and simultaneously wreck England’s chances in the World Cup and anyway it’s not like Jose asked to buy Van Persie is it? But still, out of respect, Jose isn’t saying a word about transfers until after the Man Utd v Chelsea game tonight.
As for the brainwashing thing, well Arsene kind of has a point, the whole crisis thing got way over-blown, but getting chippy with media isn’t going to help any. They already feel like Arsenal are a big slow moving target. And it’s not like the club didn’t invite any piss-taking by announcing we were as rich as Croesus and the got to the final week of the window having only signed Sanogo on a free and lined up Flamini on a free or anything!
So how Arsene and Ivan should react is to stay cool, stay good-natured, respectfully enquire how Liverpool and Spurs are greeting on with the new stadiums they need and work out how to safely rotate more than one player ahead of the North London Derby.
Oh, and maybe BUY SOME MORE PLAYERS. Sorry, don’t know what came over me. Nurse!
